Welcome to Southampton Sailing Club

Southampton Sailing Club is a member-run sailing club based on Weston Shore, with direct access to Southampton Water and the Solent.

The club offers opportunities for dinghy sailing, cruiser sailing, racing, day sails, training and social events. We aim to provide an affordable, practical and welcoming environment for members who want to spend time on the water and become part of the club community.

What membership offers

Members can take part in a range of club activities, including:

  • Recreational dinghy sailing
  • Day sails around Southampton Water and the Solent
  • Club racing
  • Cruiser rallies
  • Training opportunities
  • Social events and Wednesday evening socials
  • Access to club facilities, subject to membership type and club rules

The club is run by volunteers, so members are encouraged to get involved and help support the activities, maintenance and day-to-day running of the club.

How to enquire

If you have a question about joining, please use the Contact page or visit the club on a Wednesday evening social.

Wednesday evening socials are usually the best time to visit, meet members and speak to someone from the committee. Social evenings normally run from 8:00 pm to 10:00 pm. Please ring the door buzzer when you arrive; we are usually upstairs.

How to join

To apply for membership:

  1. Create an account and request a membership type using the online joining form.
  2. Attend a Wednesday evening social to meet the committee and ask any questions.
  3. Your application will be considered at the next committee meeting, usually held on the first Thursday of each month.
  4. If your membership is approved, we will contact you and send an invoice for the relevant fees.
  5. Once your membership is active, you can visit the club to collect your clubhouse entry fob.
  6. You can then be added to the club email distribution list and WhatsApp groups.
  7. Review the Calendar of Events to see which activities you would like to take part in.
