Southampton Water Sailing Association’s Evening Series 14th May 2008
Southampton Water Sailing Association’s second evening series race got underway on May 14th With a moderate to Light North Easterly Breeze and clear skies, spinnakers and sunscreen were the order of the day. A 9 boat entry (6 for the first race) necessitated a longer start line than previously. Slight confusion for Chris Jackman’s Solace and David Holingdale’s Patricia Elaine saw them the wrong side of the line at the 1 minute gun but both recovered well and made good progress up the first reach.

For the second successive week Alex Bell and Paul Bush’s Beneteau 305 Symphony gained an early lead and with slick spinnaker work defended both line honours and 1st place overall. Graham Harrison’s Trapper 500 Auriole also showed good consistency, repeating her 2nd place of a fortnight ago and finishing less than a minute behind the leader on corrected time.
New to this week’s podium and finishing a respectable third overall was the Bavaria 32 Jade owned by Mike Worth of Warsash Sailing Club.
