2012 Dinghy Racing
The 2012 dinghy racing season will consist of the following weekend series:
The Frostbite Series running from February to April
The Spring Series running from May to July
The Summer Series running from July to September
The Autumn Series running from October to December
This is complemented by the Evening Series which will run from May to July.
The season finale is the Peter Meredith Cup Regatta on the 6th and 7th of October which will also feature the prize giving for the Frostbite, Spring, Summer and Evening Series.
Southampton Sailing Club is a member of the Southampton Water Sailing Association which organizes inter-club dinghy races attended by Weston, Netley, Hythe and USSSC Sailing Clubs. This year features the popular SWSA Traveller Series with races hosted by the above clubs and ourselves and an SWSA Evening Series jointly hosted by Weston Sailing Club and ourselves. The Traveller Series races are incorporated in our normal weekend race series to encourage participation.
We have the option of renting a small fleet of single handed RS Qba's, if there is sufficient interest over the summer we will organise some One Design Races so you can test your skills without relying on the handicap system.
If that is still not enough sailing for you you can consider attending some of the Open Events hosted by other clubs. You can contact us for more information or spend some time online searching for suitable events for your boat and abilities. In some cases there are discounts for SWSA affiliated clubs.
There is a crewing list on the dinghy notice board in the clubhouse. If you are looking for crew or would like to crew please put your name and contact details on this list or let us know so we can do it for you. We also suggest you put a message on the forum (in the members section of the site) and get in touch with each other that way.
