| Fitting Out Dinner - Indian Night 12th April 2008 | |
|
The weather in April is often unreliable and this year turned out to be no exception and the first shakedown cruise lived up to it's name. The N/E F4-F5 certainly shook the brave souls who crossed the Solent in freezing temperatures for our first rally of the year. Four boats took part; Richard & Marilyn on Luna Nova, Chris & Caroline on Solace, Julian & Dee on Jade and Tony & Brian on Freeway. When we arrived at East Cowes Marina the wind was bitingly cold but the weather was settled with sunny periods and we virtually had the place to ourselves. |
clockwise from 12 o-clock. Luna Nova, Jade (now in sporty yellow), Solace and Freeway in East Cowes |

As the marina filled with other boats, so we filled the Lifeboat bar - but only for shelter from the cold and for medicinal purposes. For security, we left a trusted crew member on dogwatch.

![]() Sunday morning blizzard |
On Sunday morning we found a brilliant cure for a hangover - the prospect of sailing back in a F6, gusting F7 blizzard. Luckily, by the time we left, the snow had stopped and the wind was a lot less in the Solent. It was a beat all the way against a northerly, but at least it was dry. |
