| About Southampton Sailing Club | |
| Southampton Sailing Club is located at the North end of Southampton Water, on the Eastern shore at the mouth of the River Itchen. Click here for location maps. We aim to promote all aspects of the sport of sailing, be it racing, cruising or pottering. We try to achieve this through providing a varied programme of sailing and social events, and by providing sailing facilities for our members at minimum cost. |

Many of our members are new to sailing, and there is a bias in our sailing events towards smaller boats with less experienced skippers. However, we do sometimes get further afield, with cruises to the Channel Islands, France or the West Country. Our dinghy and cruiser races are run on a handicap system and are fairly relaxed; with such diverse fleets of boats it is all about time against the clock and it is rarely worth risking one's pride and joy in a close quarters situation. Nonetheless, there is some keen and very enjoyable competition for the series. Meet the Commodore and read about the club development plan here. Southampton Sailing Club is affiliated to the Royal Yachting Association and the Southampton Water Sailing Association. |
