Southampton Sailing Club is located at the North end of Southampton Water, on the Eastern shore at the mouth of the River Itchen as shown below: View Larger Map The club house shown below enjoys an enviable position with ample parking, a slipway, cruiser compound, swinging moorings and a modern clubhouse with good facilities. 
Many of our members are new to sailing, and there is a bias in our sailing events towards smaller boats with less experienced skippers. However, we do sometimes get further afield, with cruises to the Channel Islands, France or the West Country.  Our dinghy and cruiser races are run on a handicap system and are fairly relaxed; with such diverse fleets of boats it is all about time against the clock and it is rarely worth risking one's pride and joy in a close quarters situation. Nonetheless, there is some keen and very enjoyable competition for the series.  |
